A 43 piece trail of art, another #43ArtDrop and the events of the coming weekend in Leytonstone…

This coming weekend, 43 of the daily paintings with be hung, not dropped, never dropped, care is always taken to hang the pieces properly in the right places. this coming weekend 43 paintings will be hung on the streets, walls and green areas of Leytonstone (London E11). The piece of work in 43 parts will he next #43ArtDrop and part of the 2017 Leytonstone Arts Trail.  There an interview with me up on the Arts Trail website ahead of the event, the Arts Trail itself takes place between July 1st and July 9th, the #43ArtDrop itself will happen on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June.

The 43 paintings will be marked with #43ArtDrop hashtag, the hope is that people will take photos/selfies with the pieces they take and post them on their/our social media as part of the piece of work. Social media, interaction and people getting involved is very much a part of it all. The 43 paintings will be hung on the streets and walls of Leytonstone, hung outside the galleries that are hosting the trail,  maybe outside on the 50’s glory of the tube station, maybe out in the green areas, maybe outside a cafe or two, I expect some will be found and taken straight away, some might stay hidden in plain sight for months and month, some we’ll never know about.

The 43 pieces will all have been painted on materials picked up off the street, pieces of wood cleaned up and sanded down, unwanted canvas found outside galleries, – old canvas, found frames, this is about the way we throw things away with little thought or consideration and the way those things are then taken back, the leaves and fresh layers that grow on our waste. The latest #43ArtDrop can be followed via FacebookTwitterEllo, and on the day while it is happening via Instagram

I imagine some of the daily paintings seen on the shelves at the Cultivate Interact show last week will make up the body of 43 pieces to be “dropped” at the weekend (others from that shel, as well as new pieces being painted now, will be on sale at the Art Car Boot Fair the weekend afterwards) I do ask that you please don’t take more than two pieces each, feel free to swap pieces around if you take one and then see one you prefer further along the trail, but please please don’t be greedy and take them all, it did happen at one of the #43ArtDrop events last year and that really wasn’t in the spirit of these pieces of work that are hung to take for free

INTERACT, Cultivate at Coate Studio, June 2017

Fine out more about the 2017 Arts Trail and all the other shows and artists to be found as part in this year’s event here

And so Interact happened, a Cultivate takeover of Coate Studios and two big rooms just off the Hackney Road…

INTERACT, Cultivate at Coate Studio, June 2017

And so Interact happened, a Cultivate takeover of Coate Studios and an art show in the two big rooms of the space just off the Hackney Road, London E2. Twenty-eight painters, performers, sculptors, textile artists, print makers, wallpaper printers and more and show pulled together by myself and co-cultivator Emma Harvey.  There’s a collection of thoughts, words and a lot more photos of the work of the other artists as well as the crowds from the opening night over on the Organ pages – Sir Ian McKellen eating a pasty, a giant yellow emoticon and a whole lot of art, paint, interaction and more…  there’s also lot of photos of the work of all twenty-eight artists over on the Cultivate website – Interact, a flavour of the work of all twenty-eight artists, gallery shots without all the people and the pastry eating… There’s plenty of thought in terms of the show, the curation, the way it worked, the art of the other artists and more via those two reviews, I expect there will be more though on the Cultivate website over the next few days and weeks. I think we can say the show went well, exciting art, lots of people, excellent performance and well, more on the Cultivate pages if you want to explore.

This page is about my art, about what I’m doing as an artist rather than a curator or writer or any of those things done under the Cultivate or Organ banners, and so here, on this page, are my three parts as an artist taking part in the Interact show – an installation consisting of some of the ongoing daily paintings, the big Where The Buddleia Grows canvas piece and the piece painted to grow inside the recently found gold frame….

SEAN WORRALL  And if a Frame is Thrown Out Then Leaves Will Grow. Acrylic on MDF in found frame (£200)

Interact opens tomorrow, growth in a gold frame…

CULTIVATE presents INTERACT  Another gathering of pro-active artists coming together and doing it A group show of invited artists curated by the Cultivate team of Sean Worrall and Emma Harvey. Another short sharp art show in a rather big and rather exciting East London space we’ve not used before (just off the Hackney Road, by the Sebright Arms, at Coate Studios, 37 Coate Street, Hackney, London, E2 9AG.

This Thursday evening then, we’re excited, very excited, we think it just might be the best Cultivate show yet. Interact opens this Thursday evening in a great big white-walled space here in East London. The show will take place in an exciting art space just off the Hackney Road on the borders of Hackney, Dalston and Bethnal Green, London E2.

We’re excited, art should excite! Art does excite, putting on art shows excites us, artists coming together to make things happen in our way excites us, do come and interact, come explore, come be part of it come and see the art and meet the artists. We don’t do private views, everyone is welcome to come along to the opening night, and please do bring your own refreshment, we spent all our budget on venue hire (there is an excellent pub next door, I;ll see you at the bar once the show closes)
Interact will feature 28 exciting artists, we anticipate a group show alive with art, alive with people, with painting, with sculpture, installation, with performance, print, textiles, street art and more. This about proactive working artists, working artists out there in the real world making their art.

Interact happens at Coate Studios, 37 Coate Street, Hackney, London, E2 9AG (right next door to the Sebright Arms), Just down the alley off the Hackney Road.  The show opens on Thursday evening June 15th (6pm until 9pm), and then runs from Friday 16th until Sunday 18th June, 11am until 6pm.

Expect performance on the opening night from Cultivate regulars AMY KINGSMILL and MARNIE SCARLET, first performance from Marnie at 7.15pm, Amy at 7.45pm

There’s a Facebook event page for more Interact info or your interaction or updates should you like that kind of social media thing and the Cultivate website will be updated everyday. during the show
