Sean Worrall – Layers On a Postcard 2/5 (Nov 2017)

There’s a secret postcard show happening in Folkestone this week, it is a secret though, it can’t be mentioned – “Inspired by the long-established RCA show, artists, designers and makers have invited to create new, thought-provoking work in the form of a postcard! Every postcard will be available to purchase for £30 each, with money raised being donated to Folkestone Rainbow Centre’s Winter Shelter, who not only provide shelter during the cold nights, but also work hard to find homes and opportunities to vulnerable people. All of the artworks are anonymous, so there’s always the chance one or two famous artists will sneak something in”. There’s a private View: Thursday 16 November, 5pm – 7pm and then again on Friday 17 November, 5pm – 7pm, the show runs until November 26th at 3 – 7 Tontine Street

Coincidentally, here’s five recently painted postcard sized paintings…

More gardening on this evolving canvas, a found piece of art and…

Fresh layers, new leaves, time for a little more gardening on this evolving canvas today, time to cultivate a fresh layer on this piece of work in progress. Meanwhile underneath this piece of work in progress some more on the drops in Folkestone last Friday….

What price art? – And as I keep saying, the interaction and the use of the hashtag and seeing where the art goes in all part of what these #43ArtDrop pieces are about. Here’s a rather fine photo that appeared via a social media feed on the evening of the art drop around Folkestone and the Folkestone Triennial/Fringe. The drop happened last Friday afternoon, this is a photos of one of the pieces found (thanks Scarlet).  These pieces of work area little more than just sticking a painting in a gallery with a price tag on it, these photos are priceless, love this one. Thanks for taking the time to post the photo, this is what it was about…

sw_artdrop_28apr_5

A leaf left in East London, April 2017

Another of 2017’s #43ArtDrop pieces. This time, following on from all the fun of the seaside and the Art Car Boot Fair back on the opening Saturday of the 2017 Folkestone Triennial, we return to the Harbour, the old High Street, the Art School and the glorious seaside town with another #43ArtDrop piece.  43 small paintings from Sean Worrall left in and around Folkestone, 43 pieces of art carefully placed, never dropped, always carefully placed, paintings hung on walls, out on the street for people to take should they wish to. 43 Paintings, one piece of work in 43 parts, 43 paintings left hanging around the town on Friday September 22nd for hopefully 43 different people to take and to hopefully post selfie style photos of on their social media using the #43ArtDrop hashtag, the hashtag, the finders and the engagement are an important part of these pieces of work (hopefully it will be 43 people and not one person taking all 43 please). There’s a Facebook event page here should you feel the need to follow events there, or tune in to follow things via Instagram

See you at the seaside, that’s a previous #43ArtDrop piece from earlier this year up there, keep those eyes peeled now…
