People feeding back is a big part of it, seems part 120 is now in Milton Keynes…

On with the #365ArtDrops, and the careful placing of those “drops” that are never actually dropped. People feeding back is a big part of it, seems part 120 is now in Milton Keynes.

“Hello Sean, I very pleased to find number 120/365 from your free art drops on the bridge wall in Camden High Street on Thursday 28th May at about 5.30pm. Love to know more about the artwork and when you dropped it off there? I’m a great fan of street art and think what you are doing is very cool indeed!!! I live in Milton Keynes and come down to London as much as I can to trawl the streets looking to snap art in all it forms (mostly street art).. I will now keep an eye out for more of your artwork out there… Cheers… Mitch”

#365ArtDrops part 120

#365ArtDrops part 120

Thanks Mitch, that one was left hanging under the bridge in Camden in the evening sunlight at around 7.30pm on Tuesday 26th May (on the way to see The Julie Ruin). That one was painted on a piece of off-cut wood found in a skip outside a woodwork studio in East London.  Painted and painted again and then hung up as part 120 of the #365ArtDrops piece. .  (thanks Mitch)

Work has started on the 6th One Hundred Pieced Piece…

Work has started on the 6th One Hundred Pieced Piece, a piece of work in one hundred parts, painted on one hundred pieces of recycled cardboard. On sale at £1 a piece at the 2015 Brick Lane Art Car Boot Fair, East London, on Sunday June 14th. There’s a certain pleasure in selling a piece of art for just £1 and then meeting someone months later and hearing they have a piece of my cardboard on their kitchen wall….

More carefully placed non-dropping of the “Drops”, pieces left on the side of churches, on fences, by Dscrete owls, in tunnels…

More non-dropping of the “Drops”, more carefully hanging of parts of the #365ArtDrops piece, pieces and parts left (not dropped) around and about East London. Pieces painted of found bits of wood, on recycled cardboard framed with discarded wooden packaging left hanging outside closed down pubs, pieces in unwanted Ikea frames and on Hugo Boss shoebox lids, pieces left on the side of churches, on fences, by Dscrete owls, in tunnels…

The Battle of Broadway Market, more found pieces, interaction, people…

I love this photo, a smile that bring a smile, this piece, part 109 of the #365ArtDrops piece, was painted on a piece of offcut wood picked up out of a skip. The piece was hung on the wall by Sclater Street, Shoreditch, East London, last Sunday and this photo,of a girl called Gill, the finder of the piece, appeared on social media a day later.

More photos sent in by people finding parts of the #365ArtDrops piece, a very important part of this year-long piece of work in 365 parts is the interaction of the people who find the parts and then take the time to use the hashtag to post photos of themselves with the art or of the art hanging wherever they’ve chosen to hang the pieces…

Meanwhile, this piece, part 90, was deliberately left hanging by the front of the boarded up one time much loved community cafe in the middle of Broadway, Hackney, East London.  The boards are now used for “officially sanctioned” public art now, wonder if any of the artists, or indeed the gallery who have their logo painted on those boards, know what went on there. How long has in been boarded up now?  Really wanted an excuse to post this film (by ) up on line. “in late November of 2005, a small café in the East End of London was due to be demolished to make way for a block of flats. On the eve of the demolition, a handful of local residents occupied the café to stop the demolition. I started filming on the first day of the protest, following them through the long cold winter of their occupation”.

#365ArtDrops part 105, hanging by a railway bridge…

#365ArtDrops Part 105

#365ArtDrops Part 105, more growth, quite a lot of it, on a found piece of heavy duty cardboard that’s been painted on quite a few times over the last year before it was put in to a found frame.  The 105th piece is now hanging by that railway bridge in Hackney, East London

Last time I saw it it was hanging on a wall, next to an owl, in an East London street…

mar5_artdrop50_1

part50_1 The mystery of what becomes of the individual parts of the #365ArtDrops piece? Do believe this one is now hanging on a wall in a London restaurant, last time I saw it it was hanging on a wall, next to an owl, in an East London street.  Not heard of the fate of most of the 104 parts that have been “dropped” (or carefully placed) so far.

Busy pulling the artists for the Play show together today, these things take a lot of juggling…

“Personally I really love your practice of both gifting work and improving the landscape, competing against the visual onslaught of advertising and commodity with your paintings and assemblages of colour and nature. This real freedom and autonomy I admire greatly. I wish to do the same with two works I will give you – simple A4 cheap prints of images that can be fly posted within the building, they will wash and their colour will run so each will appear different tho they are exactly the same. It’s in the spirit by way of honouring your practice and thanking you for the invitation. Also these spaces are not normally as you know used in this fashion. I want to use my ‘Crazy Wisdom – Buddha MARX’ image and one new – site-specific image created for the event. I have a short UFO film that links to this in a strange way and with the MARX and if there is power and enough room – it would be good to show it. Just thought off the top of my head. Warmest. Martin”   Pleased to have Martin Sexton taking part in Play…
