Another #43Leaves piece for January, I see no reason why 2024 can’t kick off with more leaving of leaves…

I see no reason why 2024 can’t kick off with more leaving of leaves, there’s still plenty of material to paint on, people are still wasting far too many of the earth’s resources and well, there may have been two or three thousand leaves left over the last dozen or so years now now but this was never some short-term gimmick ahead of some so-called street artist’s latest gallery show or print release, it always was something a little more real, something proper. It was always about the ecology, that and the cutting out of the galleries and leaving art for people to just take should they wish to, it was always a direct thing, a need to contact to switch the other as it were. Another #43leaves art drop for January 2024 then, 43 paintings, 43 leaves painted on found unwanted material. Material found on the street, cleaned up, painted on, and then left back out there on the street for people to just take. it is about recycling, it is about engagement, it is about finding ways to reach people without the formality of an art gallery (and I do love the formality of an art gallery), it is about people wanting to be part of these pieces and using the hashtag, telling us where the paintings have gone, maybe taking a selfie with it and posting it on social media with the hashtag? It is as much about the people that take the pieces as it it the pieces themselves.

A new #43Leaves piece for January 2024 then, a month-long piece of work in 43 parts, 43 paintings, 43 leaves to be left starting on New Year’s Day and happening for all of January.. who knows where the leaves shall be left this time? Mostly London I expect, it is where you find me, I don’t expect I shall escape the city that much in January but then, you never quite know. Please do follow the Instagram feed for updates and images (almost) as they happen…
