And so the year started, like many have in recent years, with the leaving on leaves. There have been many leaves left over the last dozen or so years (well way further back than than that, way back before photos of everything, before the internet and hashtags and Instagram). And so 2025 started with the leaving of leaves, leaves painted as the always have been, on found unwanted recycled material picked up of the street (the recycling of unwanted discarded material that was just heading to landfill has always been a big part of it). Material picked up, cleaned up, painted on and then left hanging back out there again for people to just take should they wish to (the direct engagement has always been a big part of it as well).
So 2025 started with four leaves left, the first four #43Leaves pieces of the new year. The year also started with lots of drawing as well as a large painting that eased the year in, today it is about fresh art drops and a new year. Will there be another 365 dropped throughout 2025? Certainly not one a day, but hey, another 365 throughout the year rather like the year-long drop in 2015 and the second one in 2018? Who knows, maybe, a new year always starts with good intention and this one has started with a new sketch book as well as four leaves left…

Watch this space as they say… And if you find see one of the pieces and wish to take it them please feel free (don’t take them all though, one or two but please do leave some for other people), and do feel free to ise the hashtag and post a photo of you with the piece or tales of where the piece has gone, use the #43Leaves hashtag and become part of what might just become another year-long piece of artistic engagement .
Happy New Year, here we go again…
Part 2…
Part 3…
Part 4…
