And so I said on social media last week or maybe the week before that the mountain of sketch books that no one ever sees is growing, I needed to go get another one just before Christmas and carry on with the end less drawing of people in pubs, on trains, tubes and such… I can’t leave the house without a sketch book, it is like going out naked..

It really is a mountain of sketchbooks that no one ever sees, drawings on trains, in pubs, on buses and thousands of pages. There’s carol singing at Crossbones, something that is always rather positive if you are in London, it happens on the 23rd of every month (not the carol singing, the remembering of the Geese). Then there was the one on the train yesterday, the short journey from Liverpool Street to London Fields, I usually keep my sketchbook to myself, I needed to buy a new one yesterday, the previous book has now been added to the mountain of sketch books in the corner collecting dust…. Drawing the only way through at times like this. More quick snatches of people, pigeons and pages of the sketchbook that one ever gets to see. Must draw more in 2025… these were just lines from a number of posts on social media, i never show anyone these sketchbooks, they just pile up on the shelf in the studio, they are a big part of what I do as an artist. Not sure why I’m posting these photos of a small random selection of the thousands of pages, I don’t really think you can photograph drawings…
