On into 2023 then. Was this where I was supposed to be at the start of 2023? I am still mostly a painter, a working artist, I do paint every single day, I have to, there is no option, a day is not complete if a paint brush hasn’t been loaded with paint or a can pointed at a target, if something hasn’t been worked or reworked. There is all those other things though, the writing about art, the curating, the areas where both things blur together, I do say I’m a reluctant curator but that really isn’t true, I see curating as a big part of my art practice, I see the showing and sharing of other people’s art is a big part of what I do. The writing and documenting of shows is probably more of a case of if I don’t do it then who will? But yes, curation is a big part of what I do, it is part of my art. I write about these things more on the Cultivate Gallery website and the writing about art, about the arts, about paintings, exhibitions, music and a whole lot more, well that’s over on the Organ website.
Right now you can find me working on a Spring Series of on-line shows, more Mixtape group shows, more Three x Three and today I;ve been thinking about a what’s we need from a solo on-line show from Turkish visual artist Melike. The Spring series of online Cultivate shows will kick off with Mixtape No.3 in February and the Spring Series will run from the start of February until the end of April.
