The still on going matter of leaves left, the latest #43Leaves paintings, pieces left hanging on walls. There has been well over two thousands leaves. There is always another leaf to be left hanging, another #43Leaves piece, another leaf painted on a found recycled unwanted piece of wood or at least something that has been thrown out by someone other than me. So far in 2023, it has all been leaves painted on found pieces of wood. Another piece of wood found, cleaned up, painted on and then left hanging back out there on the street for someone to just take should they wish to. There has been four leaves left over the first weekend of March 2023, four leaves left hanging around East London for people to just take. As always the people taking the paintings are as much a part of the ongoing piece as anything else. The hashtag on the back is part of it, the photos people post of themselves with the found pieces, the tales people tell of where the pieces have gone.
Always left hanging on screws or nails that are already there, always carefully hung, nobody else’s street art harmed, respect always shown, always picky about where they are hung and never ever meant to be permanent, they are very much there for people to take, the leaves are rarely there for more than a day. I don’t wait around to see what happens, I rarely see one I’ve left when next I pass that spot. There has been four so far in March, I expect there will be quite a few more…
