There was a new painting yesterday, a small one -“Any More Questions?” (July 2024) – Acrylic, gloss varnish on canvas, 20x20x1cm – A painting concluded yesterday, Sunday 28th July 2024, a painting that was and is about me asking questions of myself as much as asking if you had any questions (a question I have asked via a possibly throwaway painting title before). Then again, there is a new painting on most days, small pieces that emerge next to the larger pieces that tend to evolve over longer periods of time. This small canvas piece has been evolving sine the start of the month, maybe longer, can’t really recall. There are always many paintings in progress, both big and small (in terms of size), in terms of importance, all paintings are the same size. I am asking lots of questions right now, I guess all artists constantly are, beside the ones who just make “stuff”, I like to think I don’t do that. Sometimes I think I’d like to stop painting, then I realise I can’t, I don’t really have a choice…
