On with the dropping of things this (First) Thursday. Whatever did happen to First Thursday in East London anyway, it was such an exciting thing to be part of back there. All the lime poison and the Whatechapel Gallery taking it all for granted looks to have pretty much killed it off. This is not the place for all that though, not today. The #365ArtDrops piece of work goes on this week, all being well the piece of work consisting of 365 parts will be going on every week throughout the year. Part 46 to 51 have now been painted on (and screen printed on), painted mostly on found pieces of wood that were left outside Space gallery, Mare Street, East London earlier in the month. The pieces are ready to be hung on a wall somewhere for someone to take (should they wish). We’ve had a couple of days without pieces going out, the plan is not one piece every day, the plan is 365 by December 31st 2015, an average on one piece a day. Nothing has gone this week so far because nothing was ready, have to be satisfied enough with the pieces to put them out, nearly said I have to be happy but I’m very rarely happy with anything I paint or make (or say or write), these latest pieces needed more growth on them before they were ready to be hung, more layers, can’t put a piece out until it feels right.
The next batch of #365ArtDrops will go on this (First) Thursday March 5th around the streets of East London. Shoreditch, Brick Lane, Hoxton, who knows where, anywhere and everywhere East (besides Vyner Street, the one place you are unlikely to ever find one of these pieces is Vyner Street, been there, done all that). I expect there will be something like ten new pieces going out this Thursday evening…..
