SEAN WORRALL – “The Stars Don’t Look The Same As They Did” Acrylic, brushwork, spraypaint, gloss varnish on found canvas, Jan 2019 (60cm x 40cm)

“The Stars Don’t Look The Same As They Did” is a piece that’s been evolving in the studio for a while, layer upon layer of fresh star growth or leaf growth or whatever you wish to see, the piece was concluded today. Acrylic, brushwork, spray paint, gloss varnish on found canvas, (Jan 2019, 60cm x 40cm), The piece was painted on a found canvas print, one of two found a couple of years ago  I’ve been painting on this canvas on and off for the last year or so now, mostly while listening to Starz records here in the studio.  The piece is now concluded, one of many pieces that are near conclusion here. Not sure when the piece will be exhibited or indeed if it ever will, there’s a lot of work here that will probably never hang on a gallery wall, some of it sells before the right show comes along, and sometimes, by the time the right show comes along there’s new work to show, this one is heading to the Cultivate on-line shop any moment now …

Today at the studio, one finished piece and two works in progress…

The good people from Re-Ply Skateboards dropped off a recycled refurbished skateboard deck a couple of weeks ago for me to paint on. The board is currently being painted and will be part of a show called Re:Deckorate that will happen in February – Re:Ply Skateboards and SkatePal are teaming up to bring you Re:Deckorate — an exhibition of recycled skateboards to raise money for SkatePal! Launch night is on Saturday 16th Feb at 6pm, “A chance to see artwork from 50 or so artists and such, art from the global skate community on recycled re:ply decks. .Don’t miss your chance to buy an original one-off piece on our launch night!”. more details when I have them. The exhibition happens at Jam In A Jar, 599a Green Lanes, London N8 ORE,  More about the show when I’ve finished growing leaves on the piece. It was good to be asked to take part, although I must confess I’ve never been on a skateboard in my life, I’ve painted on a board or two, I’ve read several copies of Skate Muties From The Fifth Dimension on the way to Suicidal Tendencies gigs, Slam City Skates sold many many copies of Organ back in the days of print, but no, never felt the urge to skate, Had to say yes to Re:Ply Skateboards and SkatePal as soon as I saw the front page of the Skatepal website. I believe the painted boards will be auctioned with all proceeds going to Skatepal. More news and some images of other people’s painted boards over on the Organ pages in a day or so…”
