Self opened last night, “Cultivate presents Self – a carefully curated show of self portraits – an on-line show and 33 invited artists, mostly painters, one or two who paint with cameras or pencils or… A show curated by artists and Cultivate founders Sean Worrall and Emma Harvey”. The whole show can be explored here, over 130 pieces of art from 33 artists. The second Cultivate on-line show tof the year and the sixth of this Covid period, we have kind of been forced to do all our curating on line during this period we’re living through, we are itching to get back to physical shows, we are finding lots of positives in on-line shows though, we do plan more.

The idea of a self portrait is not something I can claim to be massively comfortable with, I do have a number luring in old portfolios, I did paint one or two for this show, I might have put myself on a record sleeve or two back in the 90’s but that wasn’t really me, that was just a generic image of a random face or maybe something private that I put out there in public without ever telling anyone. I can’t say I;m happy with any of my pieces inthe Slef show, I am rather pleased with the show itslef though. I may well paint another selfie this week…
