January’s #43Leaves piece goes on, A new #43Leaves piece, a new piece of work for January 2022. a piece in 43 parts. 43 paintings, 43 leaves on found unwanted recycled material. Material found, cleaned up, painted on and then hung back out there for people to just take should they wish to. It started on New Year’s Day in East London, it will go on throughout the month. Who knows where January will take us? Who knows what the Winter weather will allow (wind is not the friend of an art drop). Seventeen paintings have been left out there so far, view the first six via that link you just passed, and here, on this page, are the next eleven, it goes on. Good to get out there at the start of a new year, it has been all East London so far but do watch this space
These pieces are as much about the people who chose to take them and the places they are hung as they are about the paintings themselves – about the photos other people post on their own social media, about where the pieces go, the hashtag is part of it. And in answer to a rather irrate question, no, I don’t knock my own nails in, the pieces are only ever hung on screws or nails that are already there waiting, no damage was done, nothing was harmed and there pieces are really not meant to stay there for too long, most of the time they go within hours, and yes, I am very picky in terms of where I choose to hang them…
