The April #43Leaves piece, well the first five parts of it. The art drops, or the #43Leaves piece have been going on all year, a piece left here, another there, lot’s more about it all here. April see a more formal piece in 43 parts, 43 paintings, to be left hanging on the streets during the month of April. I do keep repeating that the recycled aspect is a very important part of all this, the leaves, for they are leaves, whatever you might see, I paint leaves (if you wish to see something else that’s fine, there is no right or wrong). The paintings are always on found unwanted material picked up off the streets, out of builders skips, left on pavements, things that were heading for landfill, things considered of no use any more. Material found, cleaned up, painted on, and then left hanging back out there for people to just take should they wish to.
It is the hope with these art drops, these leaves, that people who find them will use the hashtag and get involved, that they will post photos of themselves with the pieces they have found, that they might complete the story by telling us where the pieces have gone to once they’ve been left. Most of them do appear to go quite quickly, I never wait to see, the scene of the crime is left as soon as possible, but I rarely see a piece when next I pass (I bet number 5 will still be there, I did find the perfect spot in terms of the colour). This piece was left in March, Martinha found it and posted about it…
And so the April piece is underway, the first five of forty-three have been left hanging, I expect more will go out this Easter weekend, I expect most will be around London this time, but then you never quite know where the month might take us. all 43 will be left by the end of the April (and then I expect the drops will continue as they always do, just not formal 43 of them and a 43 pieced piece, that only happens now and again) . And it is good to see that, in the face of all that Nat has been dealing with in the last few years, that Nat has NFTs! On with it all….
