The notion of a smaller painting a day goes on, 67 days in now, it isn’t really an option not to painting, a day is not a completely satisfying unless something has been created, and it is enhanced a little more if it is created on something that somebody didn’t want, an old skateboard deck thrown in a skip, an unwanted unplayable vinyl record, an old fashion bag discarded and then retrieved and painted on. This Eileen Fisher fashion bag, was found in Hackney bin, it became the 59th painting of 2017 and the next part of the What price Art questiom

There hasn’t been any art drops in 2017…

Social media seems to think I need to share a memory from a year ago, this This photo was posted on Facebook on February 14th 2016 . I do like these photos that people post of them finding the pieces of art I’ve left on the street to be taken. There hasn’t been any art drops in 2017, the last one was on December 31st 2016, the new year resolution has held for just over 43 days now, it might not hold much longer though, Spring must be around the corner soon surely? Leaves need to shoot on walls soon, do like the smiles that the art drops result in…

Some of the daily pieces at the Fragile show… Feb 2017

Let me put by curators head on for a moment and say a big big thanks then to all who came along to the Fragile show, thanks to all the artists, thanks to everyone who braved the weather and came to the very busy opening (I wouldn’t have gone out to explore art on a night like that!), thanks to everyone who came along over the weekend, thanks to the ambulance service, the performers, the team at BSMT Space, the fruit dealers of Ridley Road Market and to everyone who made it such a successful short sharp pro-active art show. Artists coming together and doing it ourselves, just how it should be… on with the next one, more Cultivating soon, watch this space… Thanks everyone

The notion then, the thought that a painting should be completed every day during 2017, not started, just brought to a conclusion…

The notion then, the thought that a painting should be completed every day during 2017, not started, just brought to a conclusion. Pieces that have been evolving over days, weeks, sometimes years. A smaller piece a day (there are bigger pieces of work in progress, it isn’t all about these smaller pieces coming to a conclusion every day)

This week’s What Price Art piece is a had painted piece of 7″ vinyl (that’s it up there), painted on an old ORG Records release, an old Gog Magog single from back in the days when we were foolish enough to run a record label. One of the finest releases ever, I might just throw in an unpainted copy of the single as well, a classic slice of London punk rock,,,. Go explore ebay, put my name in the search engine, I’m sure you’ll find it (as well as a number of other reasonably priced pieces of art from myself and other Cultivate associated artists)
