One week until this year’s Art Car Boot Fair on Saturday September 5th…

This year’s Art Car Boot Fair is almost upon us, just a week and a little bit away now and always one of the highlights any London art year. it all happens on Saturday September 5th at Lewis Cubitt Square, Kings Cross, London, from midday until 6pm. Always an honour to be one of the invited artists, it always feels exciting to be part of it, I shall have lots of new work and always at car boot fair friendly prices (remember now cash is king). There’s something like a hundred artists taking part, something for everyone you might say, you’ll fine lots more about the line up and such on the Organ website or indeed on the somewhat messy Art Car Boot Fair website. The fair has been around since the start of the century, it still feels vital to me, an important thing that some might take a little for granted. I’ve been taking part now for the last sixteen years, the build up to the day is always exciting, creating new work, watching the skies, watching the people. It has evolved, it has changed, London has, the London art scene certainly has, Everything has to change, the Fair still feels like the Fair, it is very different, it is still the same, some things about it are better, some aren’t as good, I mostly like the engagement, the conversations, something that always feels missing in a gallery, do come say hello…

By the way, Lewis Cubitt, should you be interested, was a 19th-century English architect and civil engineer best known for designing King’s Cross Station in London, as well as and the adjacent Great Northern Hotel. We do keep meeting in his square and I do keep admiring the big arches of his station, just thought I’d mention it. Hopefully see you in his square next week. oh, and for those of you not in or indeed close to London, there will be an online version of the Fair that will start on your internet on September 11th and run for a week. More about the online play soon, for now I’m thinking about Play Free and the Art Car Boot Fair in the square that celebrates Lewis and his railway station skyline which I will have to paint now…
