New year, fresh growth, new layers, new work, new pieces, new paintings, found frames.  New work ahead of the opening of the first Cultivate show of  2018, a show called Attract, opening on Thursday evening, January 17th at Dalston’s BSMT Space gallery over in Dalston, London N16.

The largest of the new pieces is painted in the back board of a frame found in the storeroom of BSMT Space, a piece called Let The Dance Begin (Better Start Doing It Right) that has been evolving here in the  studio since early December, well before that actually but the first serious fresh growth appeared in early December, fitting that it should be heading back to the gallery it came from…

These are the first concluded pieces of many that have been evolving in 2019, still very much paintings made in Hackney and East London, paintings using found material picked up off the streets or found in basements of galleries. The work is very much influenced by East London, by the layers, the walls, the waste, the growth…
