Artist Support Pledge? What’s that then?

artist_support_pledge

Just posted this message on my Instagram account – “I shall be putting up a number of paintings and pieces on Instagram as part of this rather positive initiative started by fellow artist Matthew Burrows. Right now a lot of us artists have had shows called off, galleries closed, commissions and such cancelled, diaries cleared, and like everyone else who is self employed and living hand to mouth anyway. we artists are really feeling the pinch. I rather like Matthew’s idea, I know what I would like to buy if it works, indeed, I shall try and document it both here and on the Organ website if it works.

It’s a simple concept, “you post images of your work you are willing to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping). Every time you reach £1000 you pledge to spend £200 on the work of other artists, this creates a small but dynamic market where we all contribute whatever the level of success. This is a culture dependent on the honesty and generosity of our artistic communities at every level, so make a pledge, post your work, with the #artistssupportpledge hash tag”.

I’ve posted a number of images on Instagram, all work posted is priced at £50 including shipping as part of this pledge, I’ve posted the same images here, please do send me a message (or, as they say, DM me) for more info, the square pieces are mostly 20cm x 20cm acrylic on canvas, over to you, I quite like the idea of being able to buy another artist’s work…

I like this idea lots. indeed I shall extended it. For every single piece of art sold in the foreseeable future I pledge to spend 20% on the work of fellow visual artists. If you see anthing on sale via the shop or you spot anything here then feel free to ask, everything is part of the pledge… thanks..
