“I Remember Hearing (A Flower)” – Acrylic on canvas, 100cm x 70cm x 1cm (May 2021) – A painting now concluded, fresh layers, new growth, some cultivation ahead of next weekend’s on-line Flora and Fauna edition of the Art Car Boot Fair that opens on May 15th. This piece has been evolving over the last year. Actually I thought it was finished last year… A painting concluded today, a larger piece called I Remember Hearing..

A larger piece called “I Remember Hearing” (2020):- Acrylic, spray paint, brush work, stitching, gloss varnish on canvas (100cm x 70cm). A painting that started just before midnight on New Year’s Eve, a painting that has been slowly evolving and growing, layer upon layer, layers of leaf growth evolving here in Hackney. The canvas was ripped when I got it, it needed repairing, the people from the late night shop at the petrol station found it and saved it for me, we’ve had conversations about reusing and Recycleing things, I paint of their packaging now and again I’ve been going back to to this painting over the months while painting other peices and listening to the sound here in East London. Today I finished and varnished it. I remember hearing so much during Lockdown, the goldfinches that moved into the tree outside, the clapping, I was lsitening to Skin on the radio earlier today, she of Skunk Anansie, a band I put on a couple of times in London pubs back when they were just starting out and I was putting on lots of gigs under the Organ banner at places like the Camden Monarch, she just said “I remember Hearing…” as I was thinknig I needed to name the painting, and so, Skin named the painting without knowing and well…

The painting will be part of my offerings at this weekend#s Art Car Boot Fair – The Flora and Fauna edition of the Art Car Boot Fair happens on-line this coming weekend…
