Three rather beautiful rather yellowing art publications that date from around 1953. The three unwanted art books that were being thrown away at the end of a flea market in East London: Turner, Constable and Rembrant, three publications from the Parents National Educational Union (London), and, as was the case with the other found books that have been painted on so far in this (ongoing) series. they couldn’t just be left to go into landfill. The three books, each one 19x25cm, were all painted on and drawn on at the same time. The books are still readable, the insides all intact. The now seventy year old publications have seen better days, the pages are all delightfully intact, rather yellowing and slightly musty (that adds to it if you ask me).

There is a fourth publication, another publication that I guess dates from the 1950s. An unwanted booklet that was being thrown away at the end of that flea market in East London: A publication on French language pronunciation from Hugo’s Language Institute (London), a small publication, 12x17cm, still readable, the inside is all intact if somewhat fragile.
